Aug 21 - Champion of AWESOME Falah among several AWESOMITES to make PWI 500 this year
Champion of AWESOME Falah is ranked at #370 at the year's Pro Wrestling Illustrated 500. Pro Wrestling Illustrated (PWI) is the longest running national magazine to cover the sport of pro wrestling with close to 40 years of journalist excellence in the field. Their PWI 500 list is now in it's 19th year and includes all professional wrestlers including the stars of all three WWE brands and its developmental territories, TNA, Ring of Honor, Japan, Mexico and Puerto Rico. As such spots for indepenent wrestlers are extremely limited and prestigous. Falah's write-up in the magazine specifically cites his long reign as Champion of AWESOME as a key factor in his ranking this year.
In addition Fred Sampson, who appeared for AWESOME at last August's Summer Heat event against former WWE Superstar Sal Sincere is ranked #418 this year under his alternate ring name Frederic of Hollywood. Also appearing in this year's list is Cloudy at #380--this surfer with ROH experience also made his AWESOME debut at Summer Heat teaming with Zak Zane and Mo Maxam against the Guitar Heroes (Cam Shaft, Ryan Blackhart & Drew Jersey).
The PWI 500 ranking year runs from July 2008 to June 2009. Legends who appeared in AWESOME during the grading period who are ranked this year include Jay Lethal at #83, Spirit Squad Mikey at #223 and Colin Delaney at #410. Lethal and Delaney squared off against each other in the main event of Summer Heat in an encounter won by Lethal; while Spirit Squad Mikey appeared for AWESOME at A Night of Legends and Champions in an eight man tag alongside Playboy Vik Voorhees, Rick Cataldo, Mike Matixx (and with bodyguard for hire Dan Harley at ringside) to defeat the Guitar Heroes & Hector Queso.
One final footnote to this list is that current Ring of Honor star Rhett Titus, who competed in the very first match in AWESOME history back in 2007, was also ranked this year at #106. While Mr. Titus did not compete for AWESOME in the current PWI 500 ranking year we nontheless felt his inclusion on the list merited note here as well.
"Everyone here at AWESOME is extremely proud to have our champion ranked in the PWI 500. While the fans may not always agree with his viscous ways, Falah has been a fighting champion who has faced some of the best competition we have here in AWESOME and his ranking is well deserved," said Commissioner of AWESOME Joe Rules. "In addition, while we certainly can't take credit for the rankings of the Legends on this list, I think these rankings are a validation of the work of Vice President Talent Relations Bodhi Lebowski and the promotional staff here at AWESOME to constantly provide the biggest stars and the best pro wrestling available to our fans on the Jersey Shore."
The PWI 500 is currently on sale at grocery stores, bookstores and wherever magazines are sold nationwide. The PWI 500 issue is cover dated October 2009 and features Triple H on the cover.

July 2 - Commissioner Joe Rules has announced several matches for AWESOME's half of the co-promotional event being held onboard the historic Battleship New Jersey in Camden on Saturday, July 11 at 3 p.m.
The Jersey Shore Elite Tag Team Titles will be defended when the dark and gothic Society of Venture (Lord Jasin Karloff & John Cannon) defends the gold against 2/3rds of the Guitar Heroes: Cam Shaft & Ryan Blackhart. Shaft & Blackhart are the larger and more veteran members of the three man stable that has seen great success as they rock n wrestled there way into the good graces of our AWESOME fans. This is first time ever meeting between two of the hardest hitting teams in AWESOME.
In addition there will be a Cruiserweight Open to determine the #1 contender for Dan Rageous's Jersey Shore Cruiserweight Title. Rageous has seen great success as champion defending against all comers and in some unique stipulations such as ladder matches and 2/3 falls matches giving prestige to the title and causing the offices of AWESOME to be swamped with requests by cruiserweight talents looking to be the one to unseat Rageous. This match will be open to any wrestler that weighs less than 200 lbs. on the AWESOME roster as well as to members of the JWA roster or any other promotion that meet the weight limit. With multiple competitors in the ring at once vieying for a title opportunity this should be a fast-paced all smorgasborg of daredevil action from the high-flying cruiserweights.
Since the formation of the Jersey Shore Women's Championship Athena Cage has been a persistant challenger to Commune member Taylor Nicole. Now Ms. Cage has decided to enter the managerial arena and after nationwide talent search is bringing in rookie sensation Johnny Calzone to take on the leader of the Commune: Radical Robby Morrison. Calzone has a significant size advantage over Morrison and is looking to impress in his debut, but the devious leader of the Commune has shown in the past he's not above using his experience to break the rules to secure a victory. With both Cage and Nicole at ringside this is a match that should offer action both inside and outside the ring for our AWESOME fans.
In addition the ever popular modern day Rocky from Rutgers--Jay Blaze will be taking on super hero gone bad the Sneaky Silver Bullett. And as one have a masked tag team you can bet where there is one Bullett there is bound to be another. Can Jay Blaze continue his path to title contention or will the numbers games of the Bulletts prove to be his undoing.
All these questions and more will be answered on July 11. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for kids under 12. There will be a dozen matches total featuring the stars of both AWESOME and JWA-United. For more information call 732-854-2455 or email tickets@awesomewrestlingonline.com.
