At just 16-years-old rookie Mark Modest is the youngest competitor to ever step foot in an AWESOME ring. A hometown hero in many ways; Modest is a native of Toms River and lives just six miles away from AWESOME's homebase at the Seaside Heights American Legion.
Because of the Elite level of competition in AWESOME there are no rookies on the roster. Modest tried out in the open invitation Opportunity of a Lifetime Battle Royal to earn himself a contract with AWESOME. However fate had other plans when Modest drew the starting number in the 22 man competition. However the rookie's desire to win was so strong that he lasted to the very end and had the second most eliminations of any competitor taking out 5 foes--all of whom were much larger, more experienced and fresher having drawn later numbers in the competition.
Modest's performance so impressed Commissioner Rules (as well as the fans; who were clearly behind the rookie during the Opportunity Battle Royal) that he extended an invitation for Modest to return for one more match and should Modest be able to win he would get the full time contract he desired to prove that he too has what it takes to be known as one of American Wrestling's Elite Stars Of Mat Entertainment. At June 15th's Cruel Summer Modest used a diamond cutter to defeat Cory Havoc and earned his spot on the roster
