TED DIBIASE COMING TO AWESOME ON SEPT 27
Who will have a price for the Million Dollar Man?
The legendary Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase is coming to AWESOME on Sept. 27 as part of our Night of Legends and Champions event to be held at Winding River Skating Center, 1211 Whitesville Rd., Toms River, NJ 08753 at 7:30 p.m. (Doors open 6 p.m.).
Mr. Dibiase, who was a first ballot entrant into the Pro Wrestling Illustrated Hall of Fame, is one of the true icons in Sports Entertainment. A second generation star Dibiase was the WWE’s North American Champion in the 1970s and a main event player in the early 1980s UWF where he had a legendary feud with the Fabulous Freebirds.
However, it was in 1987 that Dibiase began his most famous run in the WWE, where he would embarrasses fans in a series of challenges designed to show that “Every one has a price for the Million Dollar Man”. Dibiase would attempt to bribe Hulk Hogan into selling him the WWE title and when that failed Dibiase would manager Andre the Giant in a match Feb. 1988 that aired on prime time on NBC and to this day is the epic encounter stands the highest rated match in the history of professional wrestling. Dibiase used his millions to bribe referee Earl Hebner and in the end Andre ended Hulk Hogan’s historic and legendary industry changing four year WWE title run. Andre promptly sold the title to Dibiase; however the WWE President Jack Tunney vacated the title and held at a tournament at WrestleMania IV where Dibiase would make it to the finals against Randy Savage—the first time in history a match without Hulk Hogan would headline a WrestleMania.
Dibiase would also headline the first ever SummerSlam in 1988 by teaming with Andre the Giant against Hogan and Savage and continue to appear on every Pay Per View the company held from 1988 to 1994. Among his highlights in the time period where a 45 minute run in the 1990 Royal Rumble, acting as the talent scout who first brought the Undertaker to the WWE at Survivor Series 1990, creating his own Million $Championship (which he would defend against Jake ‘the Snake Roberts and Virgil from 1991-92) and winning the WWE tag team titles on three occasions in 1993 with tag team partner
In January 1994 Dibiase retired from active competition, but as a manager he continued to be a top player in the WWE. His Corporation was victorious in a Survivor Series elimination match in 1994 over a team captained by multi-time WCW World Champion Lex Luger and in 1995 his Corporation had one year feud with the legendary Undertaker.
In 1996 Dibiase would throw his millions behind the nWo in their invasion of WCW and over the next three years Dibiase would help guide the organization to several world,
To this day Dibiase’s influence on the sport is still being seen every week on Monday Night RAW as his son (Ted Dibiase Jr.) currently holds the World Tag Team Titles with Cody Rhodes.
When reached for comment on why he is coming to AWESOME, Dibiase explained that as a businessman he is constantly keeping tabs on the sport and that he has noticed that AWESOME is the fastest rising promotion in the northeast. He added that he feels one Elite Star of Mat Entertainment on our roster is worth investing and he plans to reveal who that person is on Sept. 27.
With this shocking announcement—and considering Mr. Dibiase’s storied past in guiding talent to gold on the national level—the entire locker room, fan base and indeed wrestling world is abuzz wondering who this person is and if that individual does indeed have a price for the Million Dollar Man? The only way to find out is to come to

Let’s take a brief look at each competitor’s pedigree: Jay Lethal is a native of the With his athletic innovative ring style Lethal was a natural fit for TNA’s X-Division; yet almost from the beginning it seemed Lethal was catching the attention of veterans with his potential to be a huge star. This in 2005 during his very first year with the company Lethal found himself receiving advice from 6 times NWA/WCW World Champions Sting and challenging Jeff Jarrett for the TNA Championship before over 1 million viewers on Spike TV. The next Legend who took an interest in Lethal’s career was former WWF (now WWE) and WCW World Champion Kevin Nash; who helped Lethal discover his destiny and the gimmick that would make one of TNA’s most beloved stars when during an American Idol parody of all things Black Machismo was born. With the fans solidly behind him Lethal would go on to capture the X-Division championship for the first time in 2007, and win it a second time that year by defeating Olympic Gold medalist and 4 time WWE Champion Kurt Angle (who at the time held all three of TNA’s Championships plus Japan’s IWGP championship simultaneously) at TNA’s No Surrender Pay Per View. Lethal would capture a third X-Division championship in 2008 after a successful feud with the legendary 20 time world tag team champion Dudley Boyz/Team 3-D. Lethal is a current member of the TNA roster appearing weekly on Impact which airs 9 p.m. Thursday nights on Spike TV. While the accomplishments would intimidate most foes, Steve Corino is not most foes. After making his mark on the northeast independent scene in the mid 1990s, Corino arrived in ECW in 1998 where he was dubbed “the King of Old School” for his preference for traditional scientific wrestling as opposed to the hardcore style that was prevalent in the promotion. He would go on to have an intensely physical feud with Yoshohiro Tajiri in ECW and later lead a stable of like-minded athletes in a bid to unseat ECW World Champions Taz in 1999. Corino’s antics soon drew the attention of legendary Hall of Famer and 3 time NWA World Champion Dusty Rhodes; who battled Corino in a legendary Texas Bullrope Match at ECW’s 2000 Pay Per View “Living Dangerously”. As 2000 continued Corino upped his game and ECW’s biggest annual show of the year—November to Remember—Corino defeated champion Jerry Lynn, Sandman and Justin Credible in an elimination match to become ECW World Heavyweight Champion. In 2001 ECW folded but Corino’s career continued. In Now on Aug. 30 fans at AWESOME will see this amazing dream match for the bargain price of just $15 for adults and $12 for children under 12. This is a match of true opposites. Lethal’s innovative X-Division style vs. Corino’s traditional scientific style; Lethal’s flashy sports entertainment “Black Machismo” persona vs. Corino’s “Old School” approach to pro wrestling; and Lethal’s popularity with the fans vs. Corino’s more controversial attitude toward them. Indeed it could be said the only thing these two men have in common is their competitive drive and ability to win gold wherever they go; and that more than anything else is what has put them in opposition at Summer Heat! Tickets for Summer Heat are $15 for adults and $12 for children and available right now online via PayPal. Summer Heat begins at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30 with doors opening at 5 p.m. at the Pleasant Plains Fire House,
AWESOME prepares for an epic main event at Summer Heat
vs
Franciz reborn as Falah !
July 19 - Since the Era of AWESOMEness Begins in January 2007 one name has been synonymous with destruction here in AWESOME. That name is Franciz. Still undefeated after 18 months of competition, the reigning Champion of AWESOME has been completely unstoppable since his debut, mowing down scores of foes including WWE Legend and ECW Original Spike Dudley when he captured the Gold.
At Summer Solstice Showdown, the champion undertook an even more ferocious metamorphosis. As his manager Liz Savage explained she took Franciz back to his native

Can Modest achieve the spectacular heights in this sport that the pantheon of past teen stars achieved? Obviously for now that remains distant speculation. However, one thing that can't be denied is Modest's success this past year. Modest was just 16 years old and wrestling in just his fifth professional match when he was admitted into the open invitational Opportunity of a Lifetime Royal Rumble at our first event in 2007. The luck of the draw was against the young rookie, who drew #2 in a field 22 stars to enter the Rumble. Yet spurred on by a hometown crowd the youngster from Toms River fought his way to the very end and then went on rally eliminating five men in a row before eventual winner (and future Champion of AWESOME) Franciz put a halt to the rookie's momentum and temporarily dashed his dreams of winning a contract to compete here.
The fans however were so impressed with Modest's heart in fighting well beyond his experience level that they began a letter writing campaign to the office of Commissioner Rules to see the rookie awarded a spot on the roster anyway. In June Commissioner Rules signed a special rookie challenge for Modest and Cory Havoc, the winner would get a contract to become a full time member of the roster. Despite a size disadvantage, Modest again showed his heart and determination and used his signature diamond cutter to pull out the win.
Since that match Modest has been on every show AWESOME has run. His winning percentage hovers above 80%--a remarkable statistic for any talent considering the level of Elite competition here in AWESOME, but especially for one so young. Shortly after turning 17 Modest scored the biggest win of his young career to close out 2007 when he won a Top 8 Battle Royal by eliminating 360 pound Vik Voorhees to secure the right to be named #1 contender for the MySpace championship.
At the One Year Anniversary Show the fans showed Modest how much respect he has earned in their eyes with their vote, yet Modest had little time to bask in the glory of his well earned trophy, when the runner up in the voting Mike Matixx challenged Modest to a match for possession of the trophy. A hard fought battle later Modest had validated the fans faith him with a pinfall victory. Then later in the night Modest stepped up to aid the popular veteran Biggie Biggs (whose regular partner was injured) in a match against the most feared, well-oiled and accomplished tag team in all of AWESOME--Latin Revolution. Despite being isolated by Latin Revolution's tag team expertise Modest again showed his heart by surviving their onslaught long enough to eventually make the tag to Biggs before the match ended in a disqualification. By the end of the night Modest had made an important statement, not in words but in actions, that he has arrived in both skill and in crowd support to truly be considered one of AWESOME's Elite Stars.
"I certainly appreciate the faith the fans have shown in me,” said Modest when reached for comment. ”Winning Rookie of the Year was a great honor. I think I’ve learned a lot this past year competing in AWESOME because the talent level of everyone on the roster is so high. I hope to prove that the fans faith in voting me this award is justified by making the most of the opportunities ahead in the coming year. All I can hope is that if keep training and working hard then success will follow.”
When it comes to opportunities for success Modest may not have to look too far into the future. Commissioner Rules has announced that the young Star will be receiving the very first title shot of his young career at our next event on April 5 when he gets to cash in his victory from the Top 8 Battle Royal last year to challenge Radical Robby Morrison for the MySpace championship. Can Modest overcome the odds one more time and defeat the six year pro who has held the MySpace title for one full year? Can Modest overcome the constant interference of Morrison's Commune that has enabled Morrison to retain AWESOME’s silver championship this long? In short can Modest take the final jump in 2008 that separates the truly excellent from the rest of the competition by winning a championship title? For that is the question that may define his career and truly invite the comparisons to past teen prodigies who accomplished greatness in the annals of pro wrestling history.
Franciz triumphs to become first Champion of AWESOME
Feb 12 - The One Year Anniversary Show has ended. The champion has been crowned. And that champion is know by just one name - Franciz! Yes, the 350 lb. Samoan Destroyer is still undefeated and more than ever he appears to be completely unstoppable!
It was one year ago on Jan. 6, 2007 that Franciz won the Opportunity of a Lifetime Battle Royal eliminating 14 out of 22 competitors to earn a guranteed contract here in AWESOME and to become the first man to qualify for the tournament. Since that time Franciz has tore through the ranks here at AWESOME and is the only competitor on the roster with an undefeated record.
For the competition the news got worse on Jan. 26, 2008 when we learned that Franciz had signed with the diabolical Liz Savage as his manager. Ms. Savage already showed her savy by interpreting that since Franciz contract guarantees him a spot on every show he cannot ever be fired or suspended lest AWESOME breach its contract with him. As a result she had the Samoan brute assault one of our event sponsors while Commissioner Joe Rules looked on to emphasize how the balance of power has shifted in her favor.
Still even with Ms. Savage by his side winning the tournament would be a daunting task for any competitor as eight of our most Elite Stars were signed to compete. In the first round Franciz took on Chris Steeler and despite a valiant by Steeler and his athletic offense Franciz was victorious. The Samoan also benefitted from some luck as a double countout in the first round gave him a bye into the finals. But then in the finals he met ECW legend and former WWE European, Tag Team and Cruiserweight Champion Spike Dudley. Spike had made his way to the finals with a viscous match against Lord Jasin Karloff in the first round and then a clean scientific contest with fellow crowd favorite Jay Blaze in the second. With the battle lines set and Franciz still out of control the finals were contested Extreme Rules!
The battle that followed was epic. Perhaps the greatest match in the history of our company and a wortthy to contest to crown a Champion. In the war of attrition chairs, serving trays, crutches, even bicycles were used as weapons. Finally Spike Dudley hit the Acid Drop on the 350 pound Samoan and then the unimagineable happened Franciz kicked out!
Take the sentence in for a second. Absorb it. Spike Dudley was known for years as the Giant Killer because of the Acid Drop. A google search of results from ECW TV shows that from 1997 - 1999 Bam Bam Bigelow, Rhino, 600lb Big Sal E. Graziano, Big Dick Dudley, Mabel (now known as Big Daddy V), Uganda, PN News, 911, the One Man Gang and many more all fell to the Acid Drop. Some of those behomths lost to Spike in under 60 seconds. But Franciz kicked out!
And then to take it one step further the Samoan Destroyer hoisted the ECW Legend up into the Samoan Drop and planted him onto a steel chair. Three seconds later it was over. Franciz was crowned the first ever Champion of AWESOME.
Now the question stands who if anyone can stop his reign of terror? In one year no one has been able to stop Franciz. But the desire to be Champion burns in many competitors. And with Ms. Savage around to stir up controversary one can be assured that whatever happens next we are all in for a memorable ride in the main event picture as AWESOME begins its second year of events.
